Jason Arp was elected to Fort Wayne City Council in November 2015, where is has been advocate for free enterprise, private property rights and individual liberty. He has authored legislation to remove meddlesome regulations and onerous taxes for both business and individuals. His dogged pursuit of ending cronyism has earned him the right enemies.
Jason grew up in Fayetteville NC (Fort Bragg), the son of a career soldier. He earned a BSBA in Finance from East Carolina University. He began his career in banking with Nationsbank Mortgage Corporation in Charlotte NC where he performed hedge accounting for secondary marketing of mortgage-backed securities. After Nationsbank acquired BankAmerica and assumed the name Bank of America, Jason continued on in hedge accounting, but for mortgage servicing rights. From there he transferred to the former Chicago Research and Trade offices of Bank of America GCIB (Global Corporate Investment Bank) where he was responsible for operations management for the bank’s interest rate derivative portfolio for balance sheet management. After 3 years in Chicago, Jason returned to Charlotte as a trader in the bank’s Corporate Investments Group where he traded mortgages and interest rate derivatives for the bank’s investment portfolio.
In 2006 Jason and his wife Cindy left Charlotte for Fort Wayne where they began J. Arp & Company LLC. Cindy grew up on Fort Wayne’s northside, graduating from Northrop High School. Cindy has a BSBA in Finance from Indiana University in Bloomington. Cindy has worked for Bank of America, GE Capital and for the last 8 years has dedicated her time to homeschooling the Arp’s girls, ages 13 and 11. She served on the board of Redeemer Classical School in it’s formative years.
Jason has been a precinct committeeman in the Allen County Republican Party since 2012, a delegate to five Indiana Republican State Conventions, and is currently in his second 4-year term on Fort Wayne City Council. Prior to electoral politics, Jason was the treasurer of his neighborhood association for number of years. He is a frequent contributor to Indiana Policy Review, has had works published by the Foundation for Economic Education, American Principles Project and various newspapers throughout Indiana.
